Peat And Perlite Pro Mix For Growing Marijuana: What You Need To Know

Introduction

Growing marijuana is an art, and like any other art, it requires the right tools. It requires a lot of time, patience, and attention to detail to produce quality buds that will make you proud of your work.

A critical aspect of the process is getting the right soil mix for your plants. The Peat moss and perlite soil mix contain everything they need to grow strong and healthy, so all you have to do is plant them with confidence!

What is Peat? What is Perlite?

Peat and perlite are both natural materials that have unique properties. Peat moss comes from decayed material of swamp plants, such as conifers, mosses, and ferns. It is entirely organic because it hasn’t been exposed to any chemicals or other treatments during its growth.

On the other hand, Perlite is a volcanic glass that is heated to extremely high temperatures to be formed into tiny, lightweight beads. It expands many times its original size when combined with water or air, making it very useful for all kinds of purposes, including growing marijuana plants!

Why are Peat and Perlite a good mix for growing marijuana?

These two ingredients, when combined, are the perfect soil mix for growing marijuana. The Peat moss holds water well, providing a firm base for your plant’s roots to grow and develop on. It is also very good at keeping air pockets under the soil’s surface, which allows more oxygen to reach your plant’s root system as it grows.

Perlite is also great at absorbing water and keeping air circulating in the growing soil, but it does not contain any organic matter, so you will need to add that separately. It will also make it easier for roots to spread out and grow in the growing medium, rather than staying relatively close to the soil’s surface as they would in a different growing medium like coco coir.

Finally, Peat and perlite have different pH levels, which means that they will not change the acidity of your growing medium as much as other soil mixes would.

Recap

This growing medium is ideal for beginners, and you can even make it yourself! All you need to do is find some Peat moss, add in the right amount of perlite, and water everything well. Check out the rest of our series on growing to learn everything you need to know to complete your first harvest!
